ABOUT ACDI

In 1985 Circuit Design Consultants, the predecessor of ACDI, was founded by Greg Ochoa.  Ochoa started his career as a TI?trained printed circuit board designer in the 1970?s.  Ochoa identified a niche that was unfulfilled by current offerings in the pcb industry.  His vision was to offer a turnkey service; a complete first step in product development.  Starting with the customer?s schematic, a seamless process returned a handful of prototype boards to the customer.  This was, and is, true one-stop shopping.  Ochoa streamlined his company by designing an organization that serves as the hub for a variety of satellite services, including engineering, bare board fabrication, and assembly.  This has allowed the company to be eminently flexible, expanding or contracting as needed to respond to both the market and the requirements of the customer.  No large overhead costs are passed on to the customer, but service is to the highest standard.

The company relocated from Dallas to central Texas in 1990, at the very beginning of Austin's technology boom.  The business plan that was developed in 1989 concluded that this move would be beneficial to the company due to the increasing role of technology in the Austin-San Antonio marketplace.   Events proved this correct.

Greg and his wife Anne Ochoa settled in Lago Vista, a picturesque city on the North Shore of Lake Travis.  As Greg had originally begun his career at the local Texas Instruments campus, it was not long before he was reestablished as a leader in the local PCB industry. In 1993 Greg was founding President of the Austin Heart of Texas "AHOT" Chapter of the IPC Designer's Council.  Meanwhile Circuit Design Consultants grew, and expanded its operations to offer production lots of turnkey PCB?s along with maintaining its base as a one-stop shop for prototype development.  Design layout and parts procurement are performed at company headquarters, while fabrication and assembly remain the responsibility of our partners in industry.

The company received its HUB Classification in 1990.  It participates in both the commercial and military markets, and in 1991 was awarded special recognition by Lockheed for its participation in supplying military product for the first Gulf War.   Recent projects the company has completed include boards for telecommunications, test equipment, seismic measurement,  medical diagnostics, security systems, and rescue equipment.

Twenty years of service celebrated in 2005.
In November of 2002, the sole-proprietorship Circuit Design Consultants incorporated and became Austin Circuit Design, Inc.  In November of 2005 ACDI celebrated 20 years with a gala dinner for many of the friends and associates we have known and worked with throughout the decades.  The company became an Accredited Business with the Better Business Bureau in 2008, and continues that status today.  In 2010, ACDI celebrates a quarter of a century supplying quality workmanship and on-time delivery to the printed circuit board industry.

ACDI has been an Accredited member of the Better Business Bureau since 2008.  The Company also actively supports the Lago Vista & Jonestown Area Chamber of Commerce.  It has been a member of the Austin/Heart of Texas Chapter of the IPC Designers Council since 1993.

Key Personnel

Greg Ochoa, President and Chief Executive Officer, began his career 40 years ago as a trainee at Texas Instruments.  After 10 years with TI, he joined an independent design house as designer, eventually moving into sales.  In 1985 his entrepreneurial spirit kicked in and he founded Circuit Design Consultants.  The rest, as they say, is history.  It must be said that the key to ACDI’s success is Greg’s hands-on working style.  He ensures that each board is fine tuned to the highest degree of accuracy and manufacturability, to achieve the lowest possible cost per unit.

When Greg is not at his computer, you can find him at the golf links or volunteering for local organizations, especially the Lago Vista 4th of July Council for which he is a long-time fundraiser.  He is also the Founding President of The Austin Heart of Texas Chapter of the IPC Designer’s Council, and currently serves as Treasurer.

Anne Ochoa, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer, came somewhat later to the pcb industry.  She began as a software engineer and consultant for a national manufacturing consulting company, and was working in that industry when she and Greg met in 1983.  After their marriage in 1988, she joined Greg’s company as bookkeeper, moving gradually to the technical side as parts librarian.  As the prototype business started to increase, she became purchasing agent, a job which she continues to enjoy to this day.  She also handles  the accounting and financial side of the company.

Anne has an MBA in Marketing from the University of Texas at Arlington.  When she’s not at her computer, you can find her engrossed in the latest science fiction novel or active in one of her favorite volunteer organizations.  She is a past member of the Lago Vista City Council and currently serves on the board of the Lago Vista and Jonestown Area Chamber of Commerce.

ACDI's principal team is in turn supplemented by talented designers, technical support personnel, mechanical and electrical engineers that are brought to bear as such needs arise.  Chief among these are Mike Shrader, Chuck Michie, Jerry HoppCharles DeLoach, and Tim Leiker.  Long standing relationships with these talented individuals allow us to increase our bandwidth when necessary, without passing excess overhead on to our customers.

Throughout the years, relationships have also been developed with a variety of manufacturing and assembly companies, to suit a variety of our customer’s needs, from high-speed to RF design to assembly services that satisfy Class I to Class VI certification requirements.  We will select the best provider to build your board and satisfy your specific manufacturing requirements.
